The President's Message

As we near the end of summer and kids are back in school, it is time to plan for fall. Our club is one of the most active clubs for hands-on community service projects. We should all be very proud. We have multiple food drives set up and I hope all of you can participate in some way. Your time and food donations are very much appreciated.

You may be aware that Rotary, like most civic organizations, suffers from declining membership. Tamie Fennell, our current District Governor, wants to change that for our district this year. Our DMS Club has done well with retention and we would like to add to our team. If you know of someone who is interested in serving their community, please introduce them to Nicole Handal, our Membership Chair, or to me for a conversation. I believe we have a very welcoming culture in DMS and we would love to have more members on our team. Lastly, our District Conference is on September 28th, and I urge all of you to consider attending. There will be a very positive vibe in the room, and it is a lot of fun to meet Rotarians from other clubs.

Thank you,
Dave

DKMS  Project at the 105 W Brewing Co.
Our DMS team worked the crowd at the 105 West Brewery in Castle Rock  on August 3rd to enroll donors for DKMS. DKMS is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders by creating awareness, recruiting bone marrow donors to provide a second chance at life, raising funds to match donor registrations costs, and supporting the improvement of blood cancer therapies by our own research. Nicole, Avery, Lori and Brianna were supported by a few of us guys to make brewery guests aware of this need for cancer victims. We were successful is getting people signed up and gave them the DNA swab kits to provide the needed information to DKMS. Nicole supported this nonprofit organization in Chile and brought them to us for our support.
