DMS Service- Brighten a Child’s Holiday
Oct 15, 2026 - Nov 10, 2026

Brighten a Child’s Holiday: Arapahoe Santa Claus Shop Toy Drive

Since 1959, the Arapahoe Santa Claus Shop has helped make Christmas brighter for children from infancy through age 10 in the Englewood, Sheridan, and Littleton school districts. This volunteer-powered nonprofit brings neighbors together to provide holiday gifts and welcome local families with warmth and dignity.

Learn more at www.arapahoesantashop.net.

This holiday season, Denver Metro South Rotary Club invites you to help spread that joy! Our toy drive brings members, local businesses, and community volunteers together to collect gifts for children in our community.

What we’re collecting

Please donate new, unused toys in their original packaging for children ages 10 and under. Gift ideas include building sets, dolls, art kits, books, games, toy cars, toddler toys, and sports gear. Please refer to the accompanying wish list for additional suggestions. No weapons or toy weapons, please.

Community collection boxes

Donation boxes will be hosted at participating local businesses from the third week of October through the second week of November 2026. Drop-off locations will be announced as they are confirmed.

Live toy drive: Saturday, November 7, 2026

Join us outside a Target location for an additional opportunity to donate toys, volunteer, and support local families. The location, time, and volunteer details will be announced.

Help make it happen

Donate a toy, invite your business to host a collection box, volunteer at the live drive, or share this project with friends and neighbors. Club members can contact Anette to champion a business collection spot or express interest in volunteering.

Every donation is a chance to brighten a child’s holiday and help a family feel supported.

Donate a toy. Share the joy.

Social & Program-Holiday Heritage Potluck
Nov 17, 2026 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Around the Rotary Table

Annual Holiday Heritage Potluck

A Celebration of Traditions, Friendship & Community

Some of life's best conversations happen around a dinner table.

Join the Rotary Club of Denver Metro South for one of our most cherished traditions of the year—our Annual Holiday Heritage Potluck, an evening dedicated to celebrating the cultures, traditions, memories, and friendships that make our club such a special place to belong.

This year's gathering will be even more meaningful as we welcome District Governor Cindy Chase for her official visit to Denver Metro South. Cindy will join us for the evening and share a special presentation, making this not only a celebration of our club family, but also an opportunity to connect with the leadership and vision of Rotary District 5450.

We invite each member to bring a favorite family recipe or a dish that represents their heritage, culture, or a tradition close to their heart. Whether it's a treasured recipe passed down through generations or simply the meal that always brings your loved ones together, every dish has a story—and we'd love to hear yours.

This evening isn't centered around any one holiday. Instead, it's a celebration of the many traditions that make each of us unique while reminding us how much we all have in common. Whatever this season means to you, you are warmly welcomed at our table.

Hosted by Brianna Sherman, this relaxed evening is an opportunity to slow down, enjoy incredible food from around the world, learn about one another's backgrounds, deepen friendships, and spend time with fellow Rotarians—including District Governor Cindy Chase—as we celebrate everything that makes Denver Metro South more than just a Rotary club... it makes us a family.

Introducing a New Denver Metro South Tradition

This year we'd love to begin something we hope becomes a cherished part of our club for years to come.

Along with your favorite dish, we invite you to bring a recipe card and, if you'd like, include a few sentences about the story behind it.

  • Is it a family recipe that's been passed down through generations?
  • Does it remind you of a special holiday or someone you love?
  • Does it represent your culture, your heritage, or simply the meal that always brings your family together?

Every recipe tells a story, and every story helps us know one another a little better.

Following the event, we'll gather everyone's recipes and memories into the inaugural edition of Around the Rotary Table—

A Collection of Recipes, Traditions & Stories from the Rotary Club of Denver Metro South.

Our hope is that this becomes much more than a cookbook. We hope it becomes a living collection of our club's history—a keepsake that grows each year as new members add their traditions, friendships deepen, and our Rotary family continues to expand.

Years from now, we hope members will flip through its pages and remember not only the wonderful meals we shared, but the people, laughter, and stories that brought us together.

Because that's what Rotary is all about.

Official District Governor Visit & Special Presentation

Whether you've been part of Denver Metro South since the beginning or you're attending your very first event, there will always be a place for you at our table.

Come hungry.

Come curious.

Come ready to learn about the traditions that have shaped your fellow Rotarians.

Come ready to hear from our District Governor as she shares her vision and inspiration for the year.

Most importantly, come ready to make a few new memories of your own.

Bring a dish. Bring a recipe. Bring a story.

Let's gather Around the Rotary Table and celebrate the traditions that nourish both our hearts and our friendships.

Aging with Curiosity . . . and Humor
Jan 12, 2027 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM

What happens when you return to a dream you set aside decades ago?

At 21, Mark Shaiken wanted to write books. Instead, he spent nearly 40 years practicing bankruptcy law. At 65, he began a new chapter as an author.

Join us as Mark shares his journey from the courtroom to writing legal thrillers and essays—and reflects on what getting old(er) has taught him about curiosity, humor, and the difference between what you do and who you are.

With stories, a few laughs, and time for questions, this conversation is an invitation to consider the possibilities of a second act.

About our speaker

Mark Shaiken is a retired commercial bankruptcy lawyer and the author of seven books, including two essay collections and the five-book 3J legal thriller series. He lives in Denver and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity Metro Denver and Sunshine Home Share Colorado.
